Definitely sounds like a bit prog in there. See Roy Wood is there, maybe he brought the proggy side to them? The b side to Wizard's See My Baby Jive is a great prog track called Bend Over Beethoven. A dig at ELO.
I think Supertramp (their early work, anyway) is undoubtably "progressive," but in much the same way that Avril Lavigne is "punk." It's "true," but in the most vacuous sense of the word. If anyone were to tell me that Supertramp was one of their favourite prog bands, I think I'd just figure that person was very dull -- I mean, in a genre characterized by Zappa, Robert Wyatt, King Crimson, Tubular Bells, you wanna include... Supertramp in the conversation? For real?
I frankly prefer Supertramp as the goofy guilty-pleasure pop band of Breakfast in America.

I don't consider Family a prog band and thus did not include them in my prog charts (whereas I did with Supertramp). Maybe it's just because their name usually doesn't get thrown around in that context (whereas Supertramp does), but it just doesn't feel right. If you were to include them you would get no objections for me, since you've paired those two bands together I really can't think of a good reason why one should be considered more prog than the other. It's really a hard genre to define, I mean Radiohead is in Prog Archives. These bands are in the rather murky "Crossover Prog" section.

Pretty harsh to consider someone very dull based on their band preferences.
