It's nice when an album's main issue is front and center. The vocals. This album does a great job of blending synthpop, dance, and industrial, but the vocals can be a bit much sometimes. They fit the music well, but they need to just let the music speak for itself more often. A pretty good album though, and I enjoyed it.

Thank you Chief and yes I knew that this record was already great, but I'd argue that this record is between an excellent and masterful. Like my only complaint while the outro is good, it doesn't live up to the rest of the record which is smooth, mellow and dreamy while retaining this timeless quality that an album like Emergency On Planet Earth has. Hell there were some points that were getting me a bit emotional as the album was going on. But yeah my love for this record has grew even more after my first listen and is easily in my top 15 for the canon of 2001.

This composer (Christian Renou) has over 100 albums under this moniker, and I picked this one randomly. It appears on no lists on RYM, and it was not on the DB. It's on a channel that I trust on youtube for this kind of music, and it played out about as I expected. Lots of noises were made, but it wasn't consistently riveting, and no one part really stood out to me. Still, it's able to produce a palpable feeling of dread, and that's always a good thing to have.
Just get Blink 182 out of the way.

8/10, 16/26 for 1986, and 99/100 for the '80s (coincidentally knocking Blue Bell Knoll off my '80s chart - but that's fair enough - although they are on a near equal level for me Victorialand is slightly more consistent with a better overall tone.

In one breath I don't think this is a bad album. Hell I'd argue that musically while sounding somewhat meat and potatoes does have entertaining riffs and drum beats. I think my problem comes from the vocals where the whining demeanor can get somewhat irritating and the lyrics that are juvenile and get somewhat worse as you aren't in the same age demographic of being a teen. I mean maybe if I was into this style of music, I could be somewhat nostalgic for this type of music. But realistically for me, my grade could be a 70 but is more leaning to a 65. But gratefully the length of this record does keep it from being a lower graded album.

Beach House are one of the bands I heard about through this site so have only recently started exploring them a bit. I like them when they are a bit more shoegazey than indie pop so I enjoyed the first couple of tracks and the last few (not including the secret track) more than the middle of the album. Myth is great and the best song on the album. Still all good though. Better than Teen Dream, but not as good as 7, the other two Beach House albums I've heard. 8/10 and 13/18 for 2012.
For a nice segue I think Beach House might have listened to some Spiritulaized. So Let It Come Down Luigii.

Before I talk about this record I will have to say while I do think there 1997 record is a dope record, that record does leave me somewhat hanging for me to have it as of of the best albums or more importantly for the top 10 of that year. (Then again I will have to comb 1997 at some point)
But this record right here I feel like it's slightly better. Its very anthemic and passionate. It never loses its luster through its run time. And most importantly for me it was way more immediate. Pash's statement of Let It Come Down was correct. With two albums from them done at this point, I will revisit there 1997 album to see if that record grows on me. And somewhat excited to hear there 2018 album from the tournament.
Grade:90 but could be a 95
