Amidst all the bruhah and heated takes I thought that the needle drop actually made some pretty level headed and interesting points about the album.
Fantano suggested that the album is far more about Kanye's very individual (and arguably problematic) take on faith than it is about the gospel. I agree with this. It feels like another Kanye West album not a genuine gospel album and it's full of his supposed character flaws. I can live with this and maybe this is ultimately more interesting than straight up gospel would be.
I think Fantano was a bit harsh on the music itself, which I'm still finding very palatable after several listens. "Selah" is pretty great and I find "God is" quite touching. Not classic Kanye but I like something about each track.
Yeah not sure what the fuss is all about. If this was an album about Easter Island, the Incas or carrots I think people would like it more. I'm not sure why everybody gets triggered like 12 year olds on r/atheist when you mention religion. The album itself was quite good in my opinion. _________________ Overall chart Fake overall chart
