Glad you liked it! According to the Wikipedia article, which is a fairly good read, there's live instrumentation on all but Untitled, although often it seems to be a mix of live instrumentation and programmed drums. I love all three, but Black Messiah is probably his most organic-sounding album, and my favorite.
Really? I figured there was some live instrumentation but I thought that most of bass and drums weren't live... I thought that I had a pretty good ear for that lol. Either way, I can see Voodoo only growing on me, it's groovy, hypnotic and fun as hell.

1.

WORRY. by Jeff Rosenstock

I can see why this is RYM's top pop punk album. I wouldn't put it above the best effort of Buzzcocks or The Thermals, but perhaps it will be a grower. A really fun listen packed with energy and hooks (and of course, angst) that gets better as it goes on. I didn't like it quite as much as POST- on first listen though. 3.5/5.

But seriously, listen to this:

The Penguins by The Penguins (90s)

This is a pretty forward thinking hip hop album with some depressive lyrics and chill instrumentals, but an overall "conscious" atmosphere. I'm familiar with both Murs and Eligh, but I was unaware that they ever were in a group together. This is an easily digetible EP at 26 minutes, and I'd recommend it to people interested in underground hip hop. This one might be a grower.

Baystate, I like The Psychedelic Furs' debut more than the more commercial Talk Talk Talk, but give it try anyway.

Roberto Cacciapaglia - The Ann Steel Album
David Shea - Satyricon
The Last Emperor - The Legend of Bigfoot
Darc Mind - Symptomatic Of A Greater Ill
Karin Krog- Joy
Colin Potter-2 nights
Xiphiidae - Used Parts Galaxy
Wongraven - Fjelltronen
Battle Trance - Palace Of Wind

You must not like AIC, since you've never listened to any of their albums?

Au contraire, Rooster is one of my favourite songs from the 90's and I've seen Alice In Chains live (post Layne Staley) however you are correct I haven't heard any of their albums. Back then I never had access to any - Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Janes Addiction, and Pearl Jam were getting my priority, and poor AIC and STP unfortunately missed out. Post streaming I just haven't gotten around to it yet...but they would have been my first choice for myself from this selection from LedZep's chart.

Staley passed when I was 16, so I never got a fair chance to see them at full strength. I saw them in 2007 when they played a club in D.C., with maybe 300 people in the crowd. I'm not sure why they played such a small venue (it was probably a test run with the new singer), but it was a treat and I'm glad I got to see it.

You'll probably be in for a treat yourself when you get around to them. I'll try to catch you before you run out of picks, but either way, do yourself the favor and work through their 90's discography.

Jameth, since you've so graciously taken the time with the bulk of my chart, and you seem to like to do your research along with it, I'll help you out here and give you an extra credit reading assignment written by Henry Flynt himself to accompany his music. He's a pretty interesting dude I think. This essay can be on the pompous and elitist side at times, but what he has to say about truly "American" music is profound.

Challenge accepted!

And definitely, with the types of artists that you have in your chart, I need to know more about the music I'm getting into. It's really helped me to fill in some blanks in music history (even blanks that I didn't know were there), and point me in the direction of some other great music.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
I've just recently watched a documentary about her, and it's a pretty tragic story all around. Everybody in her life was just using her, from her parents to her partners. And there's the drug and alcohol problem too. This was my first non-casual listen (not in shopping malls, movies etc.) of Amy Winehouse in a loooong time, and of course my first full listen of Back To Black. And it actually sounds pretty intriguing. I've always liked her retro style which really isn't in the spirit of the year of our Lord 2006, and yet it was an instant hit. It doesn't sound dated 13 years later, but it is a little worn-out. Not due to the songs themselves, but due to the overuse of her hits. And that's a shame cause it's a great record. 7.5/10

Palace Of Wind by Battle Trance

4 saxophonists duel it out to see which one will collapse of exhuastion first. It's a fun time for people that enjoy being pummelled by shrill brass. More minimalist stuff like Zimpel, except a little more aggressive at times.

Ledzep, "The Ecstatic" is an interesting one.

Things Fall Apart by The Roots

Went and saw The Roots in 2008ish? with dude in the aforementioned post. It was a blast. I've always really appreciated The Roots and their take on hip-hop to have live/real instruments. I remember feeling like OutKast did something similar too - there was a whole movement in that late 90s/early 00s that I really liked, but for me hip-hop has never really been about the album, rather individual tracks. Speaking of which - Return to the Innocence Lost was on a whole 'nutha level. One thing I wish this album had was a banger/a hit... but that's not really what this album is about anyway, is it - still great album - easily a 4 or so.

2. I have heard of zero of those, so I'll just take one from the top: Roberto Cacciapaglia - The Ann Steel Album

446. Saturation II by Brockhampton
451. Somewhere in Time by Iron Maiden
454. A Blaze in the Northern Sky by Darkthrone

460. Don't Break the Oath by Mercyful Fate
461. Vison Creation Newsun by Boredoms

You Got Me is the closest thing to a hit in the entire Roots discography, for what it's worth. None of their other singles has gone as high on the US r&b chart or charted in more countries. It also won a Grammy and helped this become their only platinum album.
