It's like an extension of Laughing Stock. A bit simpler and more acoustic. And, like those last 2 Talk Talk albums, I enjoyed this one, but I'm not head over heels. I'm still hoping that after all these years something will just click one day and I'll enjoy Talk Talk/Mark Hollis as much as I'd like to. Like, it's my style, it's intriguing, sounds great, and yet... eh. Though this one is certainly weaker than both Laughing Stock and Spirit Of Eden. Talk Talk rant over. 7.5/10

This was a total surprise, and a really well made folk album from this German group. That's about it. Nothing really stood out to me on the first listen, but it made for a nice listen.

Like sophomore album Dog Man Star, their self-titled debut provides a heaping helping of well-made, glammy britpop. Very good, enjoyable record. I didn't pick up on more than a few truly great tracks this listen, but perhaps more will reveal themselves in the future. 3.5/5.

1. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robot - The Flaming Lips
What a cool and somewhat cute album. I really enjoyed listening to it. There is a nice balance between accesible guitar progression and interesting electronic textures. The instrumental Yoshimi Battle the Pink Robot pt.2 is trully awesome. With the overarching theme of the album, this one really feels like you're watching a fun battle between a ninja and killer robots. I should listen to the lyrics more since it's a concept album but i don't usually worry much about them and also given that english isn't my first language. The production was so great, i wan't to crawl inside that bass and sleep there 😁
Very cool listen, i see myself listening to it regularly.

Psychedelic Jungle by The Cramps
Not every song here is great and the production is less dirty, noisy and lofi than their other stuff. But I just love the idea behind The Cramps. Psychobilly is one of the greatest inventions in the history of mankind, let's be honest. Their charismatic, left-field and simplistic approach to songwriting is as inventive as it's fun. Goo Goo Muck is possibly my favourite Cramps cover, the original by Ronnie Cook and the Gaylads is a quirky novelty song with obvious sexual connotations, but this cover is just on another level. They make it so much weirder, Lux Interior's vocals are both creepy and hilarious and the instumental is gritty, noisy and much more fitting. It turns the song from a simple joke tune to one of the coolest punk songs of the 80s imo.

Other great cuts include Voodoo Doll, Cavemen, Jungle Hop, Under The Wires and a fantastic Beautiful Gardens. My favourite by The Cramps is still Bad Music For Bad People which is severely underrated (probably because it's a revenge cash-in compilation by the former label). Everybody should give The Cramps a go. 7.5/10
If ambient-type music has an "extreme" side, then I guess that would be the subgenre of "lowercase". Forget your glitch and microhouse, here is music that if you're not listening to carefully, you may even forget that it's on. I love when I read a terrible review of an album on RYM only to have the work completely destroy somebody's terrible take. (Which I'm sure is some schadenfreude that most get when reading most of my inanities.)

While that is not necessarily untrue, because there is an audio track that is a hyper-compressed recording of walking around a corn field, intermittently interrupted by what sounds like some heavy-footed thing walking down a hallway, which plays for the entirety of the lone 42 minute track.
Now, if you have any imagination left whatsoever, when the oscillating and electronic drones come in to play, the whole crop circle and alien abduction feeling kind of comes to fruition.
The corn field, the cold-sounding hallway, the low-frequency hum, peppered with higher-frequency oscillations; it all makes you feel like you've been taken aboard an alien craft.
And, while I can find a lot to enjoy in this album, it pretty much has shown all of it's cards by minute number 20, so the rest is mostly and exercise in patience or stupidity. I just enjoy listening to something like this, or just having it on in the background, so it's not as excruciating to me as it may be to other people.

One of the cool things about playing this game is hearing these oddities that I would never normally listen to. Whether I like them or not I appreciate the novel experience. So were these guys the 1970 version of The Wiggles? This is a quality children's album for sure, in the hippy folk harmonising/sunshine pop like stylings of Peter, Paul & Mary, or The Seekers. Hmm...Children's albums are not for me, and I can take or leave music like this, and like most of us I'm sure, I've heard the Sesame Street theme song way too many times so it's never good to hear it again. But overall it was mostly a decent summery, sunshiney, positive vibe album - just with lyrics for the young (and the young at heart and soul I guess). The second half was a bit more enjoyable, with Love You being a good song, and Bubbles - with it's bubbly energy and subtle psychedelia - also one of the best on the album. Not really my thing but I can see the appeal for some...6.5/10, & 26/28 for 1970.

Enemies Of Reality by Nevermore
Nevermore are one of the classic 2000s prog metal bands. If you can't stand that subgenre, I can guarantee you that you'll absolutely hate Nevermore because their songs are pretty stereotypical prog metal with power metal tendencies (huge, theatrical songs), albeit extremely well written. And to be honest, like most prog metal from the time, their lyrics do suck. If you like or can stand the genre, they're one of the best examples of the style at that time. Enemies Of Reality is the follow up to their masterpiece Dead Heart In A Dead world, and it's a much more thrash oriented album. Much weaker one too. Not bad by any means, but the songwriting is definitely worse. The songs aren't as catchy, choruses aren't as huge, but they're still pretty good tbh. The positive side is that it's shorter than the usual Nevermore album, clocking in at just over 40 minutes. I'm glad I've heard it, it won't be my go-to Nevermore album, but it's a good choice for some good ol' prog thrashing bangers. 8/10

A nice experience. This a very ambient album, so i find you really have to concentrate to not drift away and to get into the intricacies of the sound. Souvlaki is a very good example of that. In a first listen it feels like really simple, lo-fi chords progression, especially since the opener seems very underwhelming to me. But if you listen more closely, there is a lot going on here. The sound, although noisy, feels very fine tuned. I was not surprised to hear Brian Eno worked on this.
It also manages to invoke a lot of different moods, from ethereal to gloomy to exciting, while always maintaining a very subdued atmosphere. I feel like not all song are perfect though, i already said that Alison feels very forgetable, as is Melon Yellow. Sing, on the other hand is wonderful.
Don't know what more to say about this. not completely trancended by it, but it's the type of album that grows on you overtime.

It could just be another generic alternative guitar album from the 80s, which it is, but the songs are pretty catchy and it's fun to hear stuff sang in the Basque language. The singer has a strange cadence and the music can actually get kind of heavy at times too, with a more punk or metal kind of feeling to it. Not bad.
Looks like "Close To The Edge" is the next one for you.
