Moyshe McStiff And The Tartan Lancers Of The Sacred Heart by C.O.B.

What a pleasant listen this morning. I've made the renaissance and DnD jokes in the past for something that looks like this, but this is just some great folk music. It doesn't rely on a bunch of unecessary flutes and whatever else is associated with Medieval minstrelsy, for it's mostly just Clive (C.O.B. stand for "Clive's Original Band") and his guitar. Apparently he played with the Incredible String Band in the 60s before going out on his own and making two albums. This being the 2nd and last to be released under this name. I enjoyed it much more than I was thinking I would. Oh, and an original copy of this album is also worth between $500 and $1000, so keep your eyes peeled in the record shops. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Nice timing, Plague Soundscapes only takes 20 minutes to listen to, but it is an excrutiating 20 minutes. And I mean that in the nicest way.

Heathered Pearls - Loyal
Il Baricentro - Sconcerto
Musette - Datum
Miharu Koshi - Parallelisme
MIchael Chion- Requiem
Violent Onsen Geisha - Excrete Music
Andrew Rudin - Tragoedia
O.L.D - Formula
Silvio Rodriguez-Al final de este viaje
Caroliner Rainbow Open Wound Chorale - Rise of the Common Woodpile

The Locust live. I can't help but go into fits of uncontrollable laughter when I watch them live. Or listen to any of their music.

Sucks that I can't get this image to large. Tried to do it and the image won't do it. Anyway, this was excellent. I would say what I love about this and can understand why people love it is that this album is quite dynamic. There is a lot of tracks that are grand, lush and hard rocking. As well as some tracks that are more low key. There are audio techniques that when this is my first listen, I still end up being quite impress. Though the one thing that has me a bit stumped is why I don't love it. Like there was a part of me that would think I would give a 100. But if there was a hypothetical guess, it would probably be how I wish this was more of an epic. Or more likely to be sucked into the world of this particular album. Maybe Infinite Sadness will knock that itch? Maybe a revisit could make me realize its brilliance? But on the first listen, I still enjoyed my self with this album, and can't wait to tackle there other classic whenever I go through 1995. Grade:90
P.S. Kinda curious if Purple would have choose Siamese Dream.

Chief, I don't know anything on that list, go for Andrew Rudin

BEA: Top 100 of 1993
(3) Wu Tang Clan-Enter The Wu Tang(36 Chambers)
(4) Slowdive-Souvlaki (R)
(5) Pearl Jam-Vs.
(6) Bjork-Debut (R)
8 Counting Crows-August And Everything After
(9) Suede-Suede
(10) Red House Painters-(Rollercoaster)
(11) Liz Phair-Exit In Guyville
(12) Snoop Dogg-Doggy Style
(13) Blur-Modern Life Is Rubbish

My Guess would be Bay would pick Snoop or Wu Tang Clan, Chief will pick either Bjork or Slowdive, Purple would probably pick Liz Phair or maybe Blur, Round would pick Pearl Jam and Led is up in the air.

Plague Soundscapes by The Locust
I've heard better noise albums, I've heard punchier grindcore albums, I've heard crazier mathcore albums. But I don't think I've heard many albums in those styles that are this unique in both the genres utilized and the weird vocal delivery/lyrics. And the live performance matched the intensity and weirdness of the record, loved those suits. My wรคr metal bros would like to borrow them ๐Ÿ˜ It won't be my first choice (or second or third...) when I want to hear a short, punchy album, but it's still pretty damn fun. The song names are some of the best I've ever heard though, "The Half-Eaten Sausage Would Like To See You In His Office" is up there with $ilkmoney's "Oh No! the Nepalese Honey Spilt All Over My Dick", Demilich's "The Planet That Once Used to Absorb Flesh in Order to Achieve Divinity and Immortality (Suffocated to the Flesh That It Desired...)" and Blood Incantation's "Awakening From The Dream Of Existence To The Multidimensional Nature Of Our Reality (Mirror Of The Soul)" as one of the coolest long-ass song titles ever. 7.5/10

Btw Chief if you're a sucker for short, punchy albums (I know you are) check out Gulch's recent one, Impenetrable Cerebral Fortress. Though that one's more crust punk/metalcore, but it's 15 minutes and it even has a Siouxsie cover.

I know I keep repeating this, but that's one hell of a list. Go with Suede's debut, to check the other side of the pond 90s alternative.
Edit: I'm up in the air because I'm not sure myself what to pick lol. I guess Red House Painters is my fave of those? Or maybe not?

So is it Suede or Red House Painters? Because I'll flip a coin and pick one if I don't get a final answer.

Sorry for confusion. It's Suede, that edit was just a random comment.

I would have chosen Suede next Luigii. In Utero was the must listen album of the year, but Suede is my #1 album of the year. After that then yes, it would have been Siamese Dream. I sort of agree with you in as much as I love that album it's not my top 100 of all time material, but I can't put my finger on exactly why. But is still a top 10 of the year. As to what I will pick next if the opportunity arises, you are pretty close to the mark but let's see what's available at the time.

No problem. Listening to Suede right now. And depending if your next, I don't know what you will pick. I have a guess of what it will be, but I'll wait when I get to the mini write up.

Great it happened again. Wanted the large cover for this but it decided to not allow it. But now we talk about the debut album from Suede. This is the debut? It's not the self titled later in the career? Well anyway, with the last post I kind of mentioned that while I did enjoy Siamese Dream, there was a part of me that wanted to be part of the album. I have this thing where if I could visualize and be part of that pocket that any album brings, I for the most part will love it. And for Pash, I do love this. There is an argument where Siamese is more ambitious. The flip side is that not only is Suede crazily consistent, there are songs that hit this particular itch of having this vast, open field like quality that I get quite giddy at. Standouts come to Sleeping Pills and The Next Life. But the rest is also really excellent. There is also another thought I have and I might be wrong on this assumption, but was Suede inspired by The Smiths or whenever I hit the 80's does The Smiths share this quality? But man this was one of the best picks for the year.

Grade:95

(2) If Chief doesn't snipe, Led will take Mm Food.

Guesses will be same for Bay, Same for Chief, Led is Red House, Round is V.S and Purple is either V.S or Rid of Me. But with Purple, I cheated because I looked at his year end chart.
