No problem, man. I never left, I just had a seven hour album to get through and Iโve been too lazy to write my review. Tonight, hopefully. _________________ Can you play free, or in three, or agree to try something new?
Luigii, go ahead and listen to the Counting Crows. Your takes are always unexpected, so you might really enjoy it or hate it. I have no clue.

I think the first time I ever heard about Counting Crows was due to the opening song for Shrek 2. But I never had that particular urge to listen to them. And of course Chief has to beat my guess that this album would be on the list for a long while. But ends up being today. So I listen to it. And while going through it, I was a bit confused where I started to question myself that I love this? Which, I then decided to give this another listen back to back and it it was true. I love this immensely. Love the way how Adam has this similar quality to Joni where he can go on with what he is singing about and don't mind for how long it takes. Or how sound wise it fits the rural south but sounds exciting and endearing. Sometimes you get some tracks that have a bit of a jazz leaning due to the organ chords or where it ends up being more folk rock. Honestly there is more I could go on with this record but I feel like I would be here forever. I am kind of curious why this isn't as regarded as it should be? Is it because it has a more religious text, which gets lost in the pile of Christian rock? Or is it because the Crows was consider an act as not sophisticated enough? Either way, this is a keeper. Grade:100. Better than Painful? Maybe? Honestly it's hard to tell since both records are stylistically different, but are in the running for the best of 1993. I love being chaotic good in a music sense.

The track listing and track run times (based on the timestamps) in the video description match the run times listed on both RYM and Discogs. The albumโs RYM page also links to that video, so I would assume it was verified by someone there (but maybe I shouldnโt). My thought is the video uploader decided to upload the video using that stock photo rather than the album artwork for whatever reasons.
Iโm not knowledgeable enough to refute that commenters claims. But, even if heโs right, itโs probably more indicative of the music being misrepresented by the label than it is indicative of the video containing different recordings (again, based on the correct track listing and run times in the description).
Yup Iโve checked with Hayden too, he agrees. Iโll do a double review next time around.
And Chief Iโm always for local representation, glad to have listened a band from Kansas not called Manilla Road! _________________ Overall chart Fake overall chart
Let's start with the pros. The production is great, funky, and hard-hitting. Ice Cube has good flows and energy. Now for the cons. Lyrically this album is a step back from his debut. While there are a number of good to great songs, Cube also presents a buffet of bigotry. The misogyny is dialed up to 11 as usual, and we've got plentiful homophobia, anti-Asian racism, and anti-Semitism. There's also a stomach-churning description of his lust for teenage girls. I'm down for an edgy, scorched earth lyrical approach when the marks are systems of oppression, but there's not enough of that here to outweigh his more shameful bars. 2.5/5.

Today has been a great day. Got 4 new albums under my belt. 3 albums gained my grade of a 100. Can this be the fourth? No. After revisiting this for the second time, my enjoyment did degrade just a bit. It probably because Painful speaked to me more. Plus I feel like that album hit me with how that album is more enveloping than this. But this is still an excellent album. It's very relaxing. When it wants to hit hard, it hits hard. And is essential for the shoegaze canon. Is it the best. After delving through some of the heavy hitters, I would say no. Xuvetyn I'd argue has higher highs that are quite gorgeous and even though my enjoyment for Velocity Design Comfort degrade a bit as well, that album still is ambitious, ahead of the curve and still sounds like an anomaly. But still, a worthwhile album and one of the best for 1993. Grade:95. It's more of a 9.4 out of 10 but I'll keep it at a 95.

See you tomorrow. Maybe. Got a long workday in the afternoon so I'll see what happens.
The Caretaker's Everywhere at the End of Time. Not really a single album, but it is a single, cohesive work. No review tonight...I wanna listen to some or all of it again, first. _________________ Can you play free, or in three, or agree to try something new?

Now that you mention it, I should have realized since this was the album since you you were quite positive for it. But good luck with that album. One of the few albums that I can't tackle unless I start to have a panic attack.
