How has 2020 affected your inspiration?
This will be my first year since I started making music to not release any work. I've found myself absolutely sapped. I went through a few file folders the other day to see if I had any scraps I could pull some inspiration from, and it was only then that I realized the last time I opened a DAW was September 19th (2019...). I've listened to a crazy amount of music this year, and 2020 is well above and beyond my most 'listened' year, but I've found myself having near no drive to create anything. I'm not sure if it's the atmosphere of the year itself or more of a writer's block kinda deal, but I'm not even entirely sure what I would start to create with a blank slate. I have a scrapped experimental release I made in 2019 I might end up putting out there some time next year, but otherwise.
Has anyone else been feeling this way this year? Just a little drained to make anything. Wherever I look, it seems lockdown inspired people to create, but I found it did the opposite to me.
you hadn't opened a DAW since sept last year? that's pretty wild. i'm in pretty much the same boat, but not necessarily for the same reason(s). the passage of time this year has been all out of whack for me. i've had almost no time to record or mix stuff whatsoever, but i'm not particularly sapped creatively. i've just got other things going on. i'm still a bit confused about where the last ten months have gone. i spoke with my best friend on the phone yesterday and realized i haven't seen him in nearly a year. none of my close friends have met my four-month-old daughter! it's wild. and thinking about it now, i guess i haven't drawn too much either, outside of doodles with my three-year-old... we've been drawing robots and monsters together lately, alongside alphabet practice. working from home and having kids in the house (we had our second kiddo in august), home improvement projects, gardening, etc. i've just been super preoccupied (in a good way).

Couldn't believe it. Thought I had worked on that track in like... maaaaybe April. Shocked it was so long ago. After releasing Mango in early 2019 there hasn't been a lot of tracks bounced 8-[. Might make it a priority to work on some new material. Hopefully be able to aim for a 2021 release of some sort. Might just open an empty project and see what happens. Once the train's rolling I'm sure some inspiration will pop up. Who knows.

And congrats! Sounds like that's plenty on your plate regardless. Always hoping to spot more of your animations pop up. Really are something.
For the most part, March does still feel like yesterday. I don't remember May in the slightest, and August is a complete blur. Time's felt awfully broken. November was on fast-forward. There's some albums from this year that I keep feeling came out in late September or something and then I look at the date and it's from June.
