[Not shooting down the rec (it's going in my queue), but I think this came out a couple months ago (Oct 2020).
Oh, I really missed the boat on that. Shouldโve checked his website. Saw Bandcamp listed it as today, and with no record on RYM or Discogs, I jumped to conclusions.
I'm also very excited for Ignorance by The Weather Station, whose last album I really didn't care for at all but whose recent string of singles have all been minor-masterpieces of strutting, shimmering sophisti-pop in the vein of Roxy's Avalon or '80s Blue Nile or Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams', albeit a little rawer and more muscular than those things. It's a really intriguing sound and I am totally here for it. I mean, I already love all four singles, so the rest of the album is gonna have to be fucking awful for it not to be the best straightforward pop-rock album I hear this year.
This album drops Friday. Easily an early AOTY contender. This is the first album by The Staves in six years, making a triumphant return after a period of loss, heartbreak, and maturation in their lives. The album is stunning beginning to end. Their defining vocal harmonies intertwine with the folk/electric arrangements produced by the legendary John Congleton. The album explores self-acceptance and growth in the face of grief and heartbreak. Can't recommend enough.
Hell yeah!!!! Me too. There are half a dozen eagerly anticipated albums dropping in about 8 hours for me. Foremost among them is that album there. Based off the songs available so far and based off descriptions and based off enthusiasm of people who have heard it already, it could be yet another great post punk release in 2021. This has been a tear with some cool as fuck post punk and Iโm all for it.
Also very much looking forward to the Staves album mentioned above by ledair. And that weather station album on skinnyโs mention does indeed seem like a really great (potentially) album. So much good stuff. I have to force myself not to bite off more than I can chew. _________________ -Ryan
So far listened to this very strange yet beautiful album a couple times and itโs recommended. Only 29 min, not a huge time investment, but it covers a lot of musical ground in that time. _________________ -Ryan

Checking it out rn and completely agree! Psyched to check this out over the next week.
Listened to this front to back while drinking my coffee this morning. Some of the best indie rock I've heard in a long time. The Slint comparisons are warranted but also reminds me of Lambchop and other mid 90s indie darlings who weren't afraid to fuck around with other genres.
Can't wait to get vaccinated so I can see this shit live!!! It's been too long. I miss my old haunts! Luckily there's been tons of new music released by Lice, Shame, Viagra Boys that is getting me pumped to see some live shows!!!
Okay, Hayden and PossiblyInMichigan are two of my favorite people in the world, so I thought Iโd do a giveaway for them only.
Whoever I see put up an RYM page for their new albums will get a $10 Bandcamp donation from me. I really canโt wait to hear both, but I really want the RYM pages to be up before then.
