I accidentally created duplicate artist pages for 2 artists just since yesterday. And this isn't the first time it has happened. I find the site's system makes it too easy to accidentally create duplicate artist pages. Would you consider making some changes to make it less likely for this to happen?

Another possibility might be to make it possible for non-admins to delete artists/albums within a 15-minute "grace period" after their having created them.

Apologies, agree it's a long-standing issue and sorry it's still causing a problem. The root cause is sometimes items are not appearing in the search suggestions when you add an album/artist to a chart, so a duplicate item is added when the chart is saved. Need to really spend a lot of time looking at why this is happening but trying, at the same time, to add other improvements to the site. A bit limited by my own capacity as the site is just a little big to maintain properly by myself, especially working part time as a 'hobby', so the list of things to fix keeps growing as I can't keep on top of it (list of ~300 changes need to be done which are prioritised and working my way through them). Duplicates are picked up fairly quickly and some of the mods are able to flag duplicates as suspect and reassign albums to reduce their impact.

AM is right...sometimes it's the search function. But also, when adding a new album, sometimes it takes a little time for the page to load. If you hit enter more than once, the album is likely to duplicate. Be patient!

And yes...flagging an album as a duplicate is not time consuming at data moderation, and it is pretty easy to spot when it happens. Don't sweat it! 😄
