Oh yeah! One of the best albums of the 2010s. And one of the few albums II've listened to twice in a row.
What II think II really like about it the most is that Kevin took the traditional Beatles vocals and thoughtful lyricism and blended it with more psychedelic soundscapes which feel pretty modern and kinda a more complex compositions at least based on the fact that the songs on Lonerism differ from the traditional compositional structure of pop songs (Kinda like what Modest Mouse did in the spirit of Pixies, but the genre is indie rock of course).
Many of the songs in this album are amazing, even the "wEaKer" ones! My favorites ones are "Apocalypse Dreams" because of the sonic soundscapes and its insanely amazing breakdown, "Nothing That Has Happened So Far..." because of its long duration featuring an amazingly diverse compositional structure, and "Keep On Lying" which has my favorite blend of lyrical and compositional structures ever in a song! All these songs are three of the best songs of the 2010s for me!
II was kinda disappointed to discover it was not as well-received as on other music rating sites, but RYM's audience is more into hip hop, emo and shoegaze and AotY is somewhat in the middle with more appreciation for non-English speaking artists, so II guess that makes sense, and that doesn't change my opinions concerning Lonerism.
