Think back to your childhood. What's the first song you can remember hearing in your life? For me, it was "The Loco-Motion" by Little Eva. This song was on a various artists album that my mother owned.

Strangely, mine might also be the Locomotion. I remember dancing to it at a party when I was about 5 or 6. I canโ€™t think of an earlier musical memory of a proper song. It might have been the Kylie version though.

The first song I ever remember thinking was my favourite was โ€œWake me up before you go goโ€ by Wham. Probably when I was 7 or 8. Then I remember really liking โ€œHeaven is a Place on Earthโ€ by Belinda Carlilse and โ€œBeat itโ€ by Michael Jackson around the same time.

I find this topic interesting because in some ways my tastes have not grown up. All these songs still sound absolutely great.

I also remember this as being one of the first songs I really loved when I was little. Except it was the Grand Funk Railroad version from the '70s. Interestingly, I once read that this was the only song to reach Number One three separate times. Little Eva in the 60s, Grand Funk in the 70s, and Kylie Minogue in the 80s. The writer of the song, Carole King, also had a version in the '80s but I don't think it was a hit.

That makes 3 of us here who had this song in our very early childhoods. I guess it was a really popular song.

There's two that seem to resonate with me.

1. Beatles - I wanna hold your hand

2. Herman's Hermits - No milk today

I'm not sure, but the first song I, at least right now, remember listening was the Titanic theme.

without doubt would have been one of the Gerry Anderson theme tunes. Maybe Fireball XL5, Stingray or Thunderbirds.

All still brilliant by the way
