Hi
Just discovered the site, and as a huge music lover since ’72 have enjoyed looking at the threads and so thought I’d join in.
And what music do I like…lots.
1st Single I bought – Metal Guru – T.Rex
1st Album – Bolan Boogie – T.Rex
1st gig – Queen in ’74 (“Sheer Heart Attack” tour, when they were Led Zepelin with Beach Boy harmonies)
Started listening to music just as glam was at its high over here in the UK. But what was exiting was the charts had such a variety. Hawkwind, Lindisfarne, The Move were all having hit records, and through listening to The Alan Freeman Show on a Saturday afternoon I discovered classic/progressive rock.
Then came Punk, and although I never “cut my hair” I loved the music, but continued to love classic rock (My gigs June 77-Oct 77 included Ian Hunter, The Stranglers, The Sex Pistols, Hawkwind, Barrclay James Harverst, Dr Feelgood, Wishbone Ash & Steve Hillage)
And about this time I found The Grateful Dead who wove their magic spell over me.
Around the mid 80’s I began to struggled with a lot of contemporary music. From a personal viewpoint I found the production values that became prevalent during this period, like the click tracks, drum machines etc took much of the soul out of the music.
Did tend to lose track of new music for a while as I concentrated my time on my growing family, but as they grew up I began to get back into the habit, fast forward to today, and I’m listening to,
Along with a lifetime’s worth of classics from my past, lots of great new music being made by lots of independent groups working in the Folk/Country/Singer Song Writer vain, tending to pick up my new music at their gigs.
Look forward to giving my thoughts to the various threads.

Welcome DaveP.
It's a great site with quite a lot of discussion going on at the moment so I'd encourage you to jump in.
Creating sone charts will also get you a few comments and boost your interaction on the site
Enjoy and, based on your musical taste, I'm sure that we'll be involved in the same discussions along the way
