Nothing is quiet
Iโm (mostly) alone in my house
My kids' guinea pigs are a stirrinโ & a squeakinโ
(Did I forget to feed 'em? ๐ค )
No matter
'Cause itโs Album Release Day Eve!
And my house is full of deadpan vocals & Post-Punk Clatter
For my pick of the week is...
I'm kinda late at picking up (my) Dry Cleaning, but am I ever so glad I found that slip as they're one of the better Post-Punk bands of this recent cohort. (The Viagra Boys are probably my fave of this recent batch, but Dry Cleaning are right up there.)
Both of their albums so far - New Long Leg (2021) and Stumpwork (2022) - have been fantastic. Psyched we get such a promising record so early in 2026's release calendar! Their new single "Hit My Head All Day" has already infiltrated what's left of my so-called brain.
Anyone else excited to hear this LP when it drops tomorrow? Or do you have another release dropping tomorrow you're geeked out to hear? Let us know what NEW 2026 RELEASE you're going to queue up as the clock strikes midnight! ๐ค

Weeks 1 and 2 are always the slowest weeks of the year for new releases. Nobody wants to compete with all the Christmas music that's still in the stores, and I guess everybody figures nobody wants to buy anything soon after the holidays either... Also, nobody tours during the holidays and bands still want to time their new stuff to come out when they're touring. I'm not sure any of that makes sense in 2026 though. There are bands now who try to take advantage of the lull in releases to try to get more media attention and eyeballs, but it's still fairly unusual.
There's a new Pullman album out today, though. They're from Chicago so you might have heard of them, but it's their first in 25 years, so you might not have. It's not bad if you're into bands like Slint and Unwound, but I wouldn't say it's something to get super-excited about.
Oops, here's another one I overlooked โย this is the debut solo LP from Jenny Hollingworth, best known as one half of Let's Eat Grandma. So I don't know if she just got tired of eating grandma and is therefore taking a "holiday" from it, or if she wanted grandma all to herself, so to speak. (Sorry, but cannibalism jokes are like second-nature to me, especially if they involve family members.)

My kids & I LOVED that 2nd Let's Eat Grandma album. I'm All Ears. Haven't even thought of them since. We're headed off to a D 'n D tourney about an hour away so perhaps we'll put it on. ๐
