"A blistering return to form after the slight disappointment of, is this desire?. Stories of the city, is a beautifully produced record, PJ Harvey's New York album is dripping with references to the big Apple, and is without doubt one of her best LP's. Great songs in, kamikaze, beautiful feeling, and the excellent Thom Yorke duet, the mess we're in. Stories from the city, is one of the first great albums of the millennium, and in PJ's top three in my opinion. Stunning."

"An awesome record, one of the best of the 2000's. This is love turned me on to her (like so many people I think in my generation.) The whole album is awesome, but does lose some steam halfway through then picks back up. Because of that, I consider this her second best compared to To Bring You My Love. But this is probably a better entry point for people looking to explore her music for the first time."

Only recently got into PJ, but never remotely liked this album. Just sounded bland and indifferent to the forgettable pop rock of its time.
