Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 81.1/100, a mean average of 80.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.0.

Great album, not a single bad track on the album. My favourites are This Is Love, We Float and A Place Called Home.
Genial.
On revisiting this it has shot up in my ratings. I feel this is the album she made that showed she is one of the greatest female vocalists. Great songwriter too. Her voice conveys such emotion whether it be rock or simplistic ballads. This album also has the best duet ever with Thom Yorke. Top notch album. How can you not love her.
There are flashes of what I didn't particularly enjoy about Rid of Me, but this is my favorite PJ Harvey album so far.
Perfect album, just perfect.
First half was way too better than second half, but great album still
Favorite Tracks:Big Exit, Beautiful Feeling
Only started listening to this Feb 19. Really like it - touches of Patti Smith, and I hear a bit of Bjork on "Horses In My Dreams".
An awesome record, one of the best of the 2000's. This is love turned me on to her (like so many people I think in my generation.) The whole album is awesome, but does lose some steam halfway through then picks back up. Because of that, I consider this her second best compared to To Bring You My Love. But this is probably a better entry point for people looking to explore her music for the first time.
Told to get more female vocalists into my listening and welcomed PJ Harvey in with this delightful album in 2019
