An awesome record, one of the best of the 2000's. This is love turned me on to her (like so many people I think in my generation.) The whole album is awesome, but does lose some steam halfway through then picks back up. Because of that, I consider this her second best compared to To Bring You My Love. But this is probably a better entry point for people looking to explore her music for the first time.

Told to get more female vocalists into my listening and welcomed PJ Harvey in with this delightful album in 2019

Interesting this is first on the list, for me Dry and To Bring You My Love are better but this one is still really good.

Great album, I’m a PJH fan and prefer this over “ Bring You My Love “. If you’re looking to discover PJH this album is a great entry point. The heaviest moments work best IMO.

Fantastic album. I was expecting something kind of unexciting given it was her "pop" album. This Mess We're In feels even more awesome in the context of this album

Rockin Harvey! I missed this when it was around. Way heavier than the lovely Let England Shake.

A blistering return to form after the slight disappointment of, is this desire?. Stories of the city, is a beautifully produced record, PJ Harvey's New York album is dripping with references to the big Apple, and is without doubt one of her best LP's. Great songs in, kamikaze, beautiful feeling, and the excellent Thom Yorke duet, the mess we're in. Stories from the city, is one of the first great albums of the millennium, and in PJ's top three in my opinion. Stunning.

I can't decide over this and To Bring You My Love. Both great and astonishing.
