I think I'll lift my NBA embargo for next season.

49ers by 1.

BUT, I'll be pulling for you guys. I LOVE the city of Philadelphia. (Just don't EVAH' expect me to route for the 76ers!!! ๐Ÿ˜…)

I want the 76ers to win the NBA championship and Jaylen Brown to get his second Finals MVP. ๐Ÿ€ ๐Ÿ† Now THAT would be good copy.
Man, how the tides have turned. What is it about our teams and trading guys named Brown? First we gave you AJ; now you're giving us Jaylen. We both have something to look forward to.

Yup! That's how dumbfounded I am by this trade! The universe where I live tilted on its axis. A when pigs fly sorta moment ! I'm pulling for JB over JT next year! Of course, I'll be routing for my Celtics too. My blood is green after all. BUT, Jaylen has GREEN blood too and he deserved WAY, WAY better!

Go JB!!! #foreveraceltic #jerseyintherafters โ˜˜๏ธ

ps: one of my favorite quotes on true intelligence is the ability to change one's position on a topic, even entrenched positions, if circumstances dictate it. I forget the exact quote, but I try to live by it. ๐Ÿค“

edit: And psyched you'll be following along this year! Honestly I feel u have a BIG 4: Edgecombe is a baller! And very likable!

Ha! My youngest daughter just asked me about the trade, and I told her I couldn't even put my feelings into words just yet! ๐Ÿ˜…

LeBron James

He is obviously among the great players, but what has he played with now? 100 hall of famers/future hall of famers?

Being that he is going on 50 yrs old and in his 32nd season, I donโ€™t think it moves the needle for his โ€œGOAT statusโ€ in particular (negatively or positively) to be playing on such a stacked team (I guessโ€ฆ?) but one does have to consider the real fact that he only seems to win championships โ€” or even have a real shot โ€” on very stacked teams and it kind of negates the notion that he is โ€œThe GOATโ€ or that he so clearly makes his teammates better (how often does this get stated as fact when his teammates stats usually show otherwise, or vs a Kobe or Jordan who very evidently did so by undeniable results? Like Jordanโ€™s team legitimately and actually got better and better and better, closer and closer to a championship from the ground up โ€” and then held it year after year in each full season through 1998, even as changes were made, other players in and out, even as they aged, got hurt, etcโ€ฆ).

Not posting this as a fan of Skip (at all)

And yes, LeBron can be annoyingโ€ฆ I respect the talent which is undeniable, but I would like him a lot more if his career path showed a lot more hunger and persistence against and truly overcoming of obstacle (organic improvement rather than stacking the deck, or jumping ship to a stacked deck when the going got tough). This is annoying if for anything because it also just makes it harder to evaluate his true value. On one hand he is an advanced stats nerds wet dream; on the other, the actual results, the advantage he should be giving his team, often donโ€™t quite match up to his statistical caseโ€ฆ

Anyway, usually I find Skip just plain annoying and ignore at all costs โ€” a lot of his takes will drop your IQ off a cliff โ€” but there can be a certain entertainment value in watching him just crash out over this shit ๐Ÿคฃ

Here's mine:

EAST - super tough conference now, with no perfect team
1. 76ers (too much depth, and too much parity to allow for another team to top them)
2. Cavs - deep and dangerous
3. Knicks - bit of a post-champ swoon, but still there
4. Raptors - even with Kawhi playing part time
5. Pacers - bouncing back
6. Celtics - somewhat overrated

7. Pistons - lack stars beyond Cade
8. Hawks - underrated
9. Heat - Not balanced
10. Magic - Too good to be ranked 10, but East is loaded

11. Wizards - not quite
12. Hornets - 1 step back before going forward
13. Bulls - finally sorting out a plan
14. Nets - yikes
15. Bucks - bleh

WEST
1. Spurs - watch out!
2. Thuunder - even with the injuries
3. Rockets - deep
4. Wolves - hungry, but flawed
5. Nuggets - showing cracks
6. Lakers - Luka's team now

7. Mavs - Flagg is really something
8. Jazz - turning a corner
9. Blazers - weird balance, but loads of talent
10. Suns - not sure what the plan is

11. Warriors - thin and old
12. Pelicans - one day they may sort this out
13. Clips - bad
14. Grizzlies - bad
15. Kings - depressing

PLAYOFFS
EAST
76ers over Hawks (play-in winners) in tough series
Cavs crush Pistons (play-in winners)
Knicks over Celtics
Raptors shade Pacers

76ers over Raptors in even tougher series
Cavs edge tired Knicks

Cavs over 76ers easily(76ers are spent)

WEST
Spurs crush Blazers (play-in winner)
Thunder dispatch Mavs (play-in winner) after a scare
Rockets over Lakers
Wolves best Nuggets

Spurs over Nuggets
Rockets over Thunder

Spurs over Rockets

Final - Spurs over Cavs
