Goddamn great great album. His songwriting as a lyricist was absolutely beautiful and detailed and yet subtle. It doesn't always knock you over the head with its obvious beauty. Some songs on here I just came to love the tunes and the feel of well before I finally noticed how nice the lyrics are. Still, I wouldn't put this lyrically up there with Dylan or TVZ or even some Waits, but he's up there in the next tier down.
As for the songs, his melodies here are just goddamn flawless. The rocking parts are so great and un cliche. And I really love this album a lot. Masterful, complete, _________________ -Ryan

Was going to comment here saying that I liked it musically but I can't stand his voice but I've just started listening to it now and his voice doesn't bother me anymore. Stupid, stupid, brain.

A beautiful record, my favourite from Neil Young. Considering the amount of great albums he's done, that's saying a lot.

Love this album, even though this isn't even my favorite by him. (That prize goes to Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere) It's definitely his most emotional record.
