- Post subject: Pitchfork: top tracks, 90s
|
just want to read thoughts and comments; surprised this hasn't been made already.
here's a link to the top 20: http://pitchfork.com/features/staff-lists/7853-the-top-200-tracks-of-the-1990s-20-01/
Glad to see someone at least pushed "Smells Like Teen Spirit" out of the top 10, about time that happened; glad to see Neutral Milk Hotel made the top 10; never heard Pulp's song (#2) before this chart; and surprised and glad to see Gold Sounds at #1, thinking back it really does have some very memorable lyrics ('you can never quarantine the past', 'cuz your empty, and I'm empty too', 'secret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret', ' so drunk in the August sun', etc) and a very likable breezy music to it...

Where the flip is Teardrop?! Also, I think Slint's 'Good Morning, Captain' should be considerably higher.
Generally good though.

Songs to buy sweatshop made "indie" clothes to? Most of these (top 10) are good songs but from such a source music is treated as a simple fashion.

That and Unfinished Symphony would make my own top 200 90s songs.

It was a genuine question. What is "cheek" (besides the face) ? (I'm not a native English speaker).

It means snark or sarcasm. _________________ I love all music. It makes you feel like living. Silence is death.
