Hello! I'm Soren. I was pointed to this site by a friend; he said it was a good place to talk about music, which is something I can totally get behind.

Music is my number-one passion in life, and I plan on making a career out of it one day, although I'm still not sure what exactly that will entail. I do know that I definitely want to compose my own songs, and as soon as I learn my way around a decent music program I'm diving headfirst into it.

I listen to a lot of different genres - progressive rock, funk, classic rock, hard rock, heavy metal (mostly old-school stuff like Dio, Iron Maiden, and the like), blues-rock, jazz (more the jazz-fusion/jazz-rock side of things, mostly, although I am making an effort to listen to more classic jazz), and video game music in general. I also dabble in electronica, hip-hop, and ska, although I don't really know much about those, and some classical/Romantic Era stuff if I'm in the mood - mainly Mozart, Chopin, and Debussey. My two favorite bands are Yes and Led Zeppelin; I have my dad to thank for that, and for a sizable chunk of my musical tastes in general.

I'm also a drummer! Or was, rather - personal circumstances forced me to quit several years ago, but I'm getting back into it soon; it's just a matter of buying a kit and making space for it in my room. My favorite drummers are, in no particular order: Jon Hiseman, Bill Bruford, Carl Palmer, Akira Jimbo, Billy Cobham, Narada Michael Walden, Cindy Blackman, Richard Coughlan, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Gonzalo Farrugia, Neal Peart, and Bill Ward.
