This is probs the most convincing song of Al's career (in combo with de Lucía). Simply put, Al has great ability in regards to not only guitar playing, but he makes brilliant jazz fusion as well.
Roy Montgomery is an 'avant-garde' guitarist whose style is generally free, airy, ethereal, dream-like, gossamer, spiritual, transcendent, whatever. His most straight-forward work is on Dadamah's This Is Not A Dream. His best work is likely Temple IV, And Now the Rain Sounds Like Life Is Falling Down Through It, and The Allegory of Hearing, as well as Hash Jar Tempo's Well Oiled and Under Glass, on which he teamed up with Bardo Pond. I haven't heard any of his work with Dissolve. If my opinion means anything, he isn't far behind Tortoise as being among my favorite musicians of the '90s.
