If this was Blue Chips it'd be a different story though.
Not sure if I'd have voted for the first Blue Chips over Follow the Leader, which might just be the best Rakim album, but it would've been a much harder decision than the one I'm faced with here. Blue Chips 2 is just inferior to its predecessor in every way, and very much inferior to Follow the Leader. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
Follow the Leader, and if it had been Paid in Full or Blue Chips the result would have been the same, except Follow the Leader wouldn't have won because it would not be up,and so it actually wouldn't have exactly been the same story but a different one but as everybody's following this type of reasoning around these parts I reckon you're following mine too.
Enjoyed the Bronson record. I will revisit that again I'm sure. Good fun and and nice crazy record cover. Follow the leader though, no contest. The first 3 tracks on that are as good as, if not better, than the opening 3 on any hip hop record ever and the reason why he's influenced so many and is held in such high regard. You have to put it in context to when it came out too. Not many people were in the same league as rakim here, at the time. Remember waiting for this to come out and remember being blown away hearing the follow the leder single on the radio. That track still gives me goosebumps after hundreds of plays. It's a flawed album though. Too many instrumentals for one. Destroys that Bronson album. Does anyone seriously think it doesn't?
