- Post subject: The Underrated Albums of 2014

I thought it would be a good topic for the end of the year.
Xscape by Michael Jackson, personally. It's a cooler album than most people give it credit for, especially the track "Chicago."

Restless Shapes by Gajek
I stumbled across this one by chance cause it was bleep.com's album of the week a few weeks back. But beyond that, I haven't seen anybody talking about it. But it's so fresh, like Steve Reich - Music For 18 Musicians style minimalism done in contemporary electronic stylings with a big emphasis on percussion. Haven't really heard anyone doing stuff like this and it's incredible and no one else is talking about it.

Bashful Creatures by Hippo Campus
Rank: 777. Charts that aren't by me: 0. Like a really good version of Vampire Weekend. Produced by Alan Sparhawk of Low.

Hope by Manchester Orchestra
Rank: 507. Charts that aren't by me: 1. It's COPE but acoustic, and somehow, despite some love for COPE, this went really, really under the radar.

Waldeinsamkeit by Sisilisko
Rank: 605. Charts that aren't by me: 1. Thank you Defago for also loving this. Dark folk metal, really, really grimy stuff, it's great.

Mitau by Audrey Fall
Rank: 757. Charts that aren't by me: 4. It's post-rock but with a metal twist. Saw someone refer to it as "post-metalcore" and think that's a rather fitting description.

Songs From An Open Book by Justin Furstenfeld
Rank: 824. Charts that aren't by me: 0. Blue October (and pre-Blue October) toned down and acoustic, a live show with stories and jokes and a hell of a performance. I'd buy the DVD if it existed. _________________
