according to bea's own top 1000 (albums you might wanna try b'fore ya die) albums list, the year 2014 (followed by the year 2013) was the worst year in the century (and perhaps in history) with only one album represent in it.
the list go like this:
2014. 1
2013. 11
2012. 15
2011. 21
2010. 17
2009. 18
2008. 13
2007. 27
2006. 18
2005. 26
2004. 23
2003. 22
2002. 22
2001. 18
2000. 21

I think this is because albummaster changed the equation for the 2014 chart towards the end of year? There was quite a few in the top 1000 before that.

More albums from 2014 will creep into the top 1000 as time goes past. We're only just into the new year...
The algorithm change also applied to all prior years (since BEA first began), so the stats being shown in the first post also have the algorithm built into them.
