- Post subject: Trivial Utter Nonsense
|
This thread is inspired by a user posting about their watch yesterday.
At first I wanted to find a box to lock the offending post up along with anymore of its kind so they never see the light of day again. Then I had a change of heart and now I want to see more of them.
Post pointless, trivial and absurd stories and events which happened in your day. By day I mean the day you are currently in, not yesterday, not last week, not last year. We'll do it until we hit gold, thread dies, thread is murdered or I create a bigger monster than the 'Controversial Music Opinions' thread and it must be murdered.
Be honest or lie.

Today I sat on the desk to the right of mine at work. I have never worked at this desk before, I always work at my desk. This new desk has a computer like my desk. New desk is opposite my managers so the back of his chair is several inches from the back of my chair. He comes back into the room a few minutes after I had sat on the new desk and carries on working. After two hours of working he arches his head around and says...
"How come you are sitting at that desk today?"
I replied
"I have to use the phone which is on this desk."
"Oh" He said.
The change was not mentioned again for the rest of the day

A girl I know from Trinidad was having trouble with her computer, so she asked me to come over and help her fix it. While I was working on it, she asked if I'd like a drink.
"What do you have?" I asked, and she replied "Water or lime juice."
"Lime juice??" I shouted, befuddled, aghast, and disgusted. "Does it at least have anything in it?"
"No, just lime juice."
"Huh," I muttered, but always up for a new experience I took the lime juice. I was shocked to see it did in fact have other stuff in it. And it was delicious.
The moral of the story is: People in Trinidad only call something "Juice" if it contains more than what the fruit naturally produces.

Today I got off the train (which I was on) and exited the train station. There were lots of people outside. As I made my way through the crowds I noticed a pub which is normally crowded had no one standing outside or going inside today. I thought this was strange. After taking a look through the window I noticed it was closed and no one was inside. I then noticed a sign on the window which said it had been closed temporarily for refurbishment. Fair enough I thought before walking away.

There's an alleyway that runs behind the houses in this area. It's closed off from the street, so it's pretty useless, though the children around here find a lot of fun games to play in there. Occassionally, I'll see a neighbor duck in there when they don't want their spouse to know they're out having a smoke. On particularly stressful days, I find myself a pack of mints and pace around out there myself. In any event, there's rarely anything happening in there.
Last night just before sundown, I was out on the porch, and I heard a dog in the alley barking enough to make a entwife jealous. As far as I know, none of my neighbors have dogs. To make matters more perplexing, I'm not sure how he even got in there. At the time, I'd assumed he'd dug a hole or broken a fenceboard, but when I got down there, the scene looked pretty clean. There was no nametag - not even a collar, so I dropped him off at the vet.
I called the vet on my commute home from work today, and they said the owner had picked him up. I was expecting it to be a neighbor of mine, but the dog had strayed a good twenty or so miles from his home. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

Today I successfully avoided writing an essay by screwing around all day, doing verb drills in Russian, soldering up a small device that makes a light blink, staring at said light for a while, and practicing my set list once or twice.

I thought about whether it was better to take the debris from a ground tree stump and sift it for mulch or to give someone else money to do it for me. Then I started thinking about how it was against the rules for us to carry a computer across the hallway to another office at work because of union regulations and what if I lived in a world where I couldn't do my own yardwork for the same reasons? Then I remembered that I didn't really want to do my own yardwork, so a world like that wouldn't be so bad, except I'd be out some money and vitamin D. I could just take supplements, I suppose.
In the end I decided to just put on Guided by Voices and browse the BEA forums.

Today I got a papercut and promptly went searching for the first aid box. I was going to use the first plaster I could reach but then decided a smaller one would be much more suitable as it was a tiny cut. I took it off a few hours later and found I didn't need it at all as there was less blood present than a Disney film about hematology.

Yesterday, I road my bicycle to work and back. There's a nature trail I can take almost the entire way. 4.8 miles each way. 9.6 miles total. I passed a golf course, several Canada geese and a bunch of happy-looking people. My bicycle chain probably needs replacing. It's pretty rusted, and it squeaks a lot. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
