Myself and many of my friends are pseudo Shakespeare nerds. We are also music nerds, which has naturally lent itself well into mixing with one another. So here's a game we've begun playing...
Take the lyrics of a popular song, but rewrite them in Shakespearean language. Then post and see who can correctly guess. After guessing, post your lyrics.
If anyone else feels like joining in, here's my opening lyric:
Doest though possess the time
To hear out mine pathetic cries
About nothing, and yet all
I am in ownership of many melodramatic cries
A madman to the bone
Nay doubteth it
Doest though possess the time
To hear out mine pathetic cries
About nothing, and yet all
I am in ownership of many melodramatic cries
A madman to the bone
Nay doubteth it
Basket Case by Green Day, squire.
Here's mine...
Prithee, charge thine muskets
And summon your kith!
Foresooth, 'tis amusing to taste defeat
And to feign.
The lady doth protest her ennui,
Yet asserts her form;
But hark! Regret!
The saucy term... _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing Folk 'n Stuff SHAMELESS RECORD DEALER PLUG

Oooh, well done. Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Yup. Might as well try another whilst I'm on a roll:
Lambkin, lambkin - it was but jest
When my lips spoke with a burning desire
To breaketh the pegs betwixt your lips.
Lambkin, lambkin - it was but jest
That I stated, forsooth, m'lady must
Be struck whence she took her slumber. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing Folk 'n Stuff SHAMELESS RECORD DEALER PLUG

Bigmouth Strikes Again! ๐ this is fun but I'm not even gonna try, haven't read enough Shakespeare.
Jim is great at these, I tried one and just can't get my head around it well enough, so here's a tumblr of interest to this: http://popsonnet.tumblr.com/ _________________
