I would like to know when listening to music becomes unhealthy. What is too much?

Serious?

When you're on your knees in some dark alleyway sucking off some creep for a $10 I-tunes voucher. That would be a fairly good indicator.

hahahaaha.

Honestly I think music, for me, is WAY better than say murdering someone or becoming a drunk, so totally healthy out instead of the alternative.

But yeah, basically any "real" addiction signs are the same regardless of your vice.

As to the argument of if Music is worth spending A LOT of time on and could I be spending time on something else that is more productive... probably. Instead of the 900+ albums I've listened to since January, I could have become certified in say... scuba diving and then when there's dead people in lakes, I can get paid big bucks to go find them... or I could just listen to 900 albums...

At that point it isn't a question of addiction, but an opportunity cost question and how much you value your time towards "goals".

For me, if I ask myself, am I spending more time listening to music than my parents did watching TV... well then I'm probably pretty average waste of human existence being a consumer, just like everyone else.

Up until recently my band mates and I asked this question: is it worth our time to spend hundreds of hours writing and performing music that maybe 20 people care about? The answer was the same... well my wife watches 80 billion episodes of every lame ass TV show out there... that's totally less worthy of my time.

But if I want to actually achieve things beyond the average person, well then yeah... music is a total waste of your time and you should micromanage your money so that you too can rule the world.

I do not think so, but I am often confused. It is 2016, yes?

It becomes unhealthy when we stop getting anything out of it, and begin treating listening like a job. "Must listen to this album immediately, so I can share my opinion"

Amen to this. In my opinion, if you are going to get hooked on anything, music would be the best thing to turn to. ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„

I can't see how one could ever listen to too much music. However....one can talk about music too much. It's the same as anything else, whether it's politics, sports, movies, etc. If you only ever talk about one thing, you quickly become a bore.
