More like "Born too late to make original music because Black Sabbath were already a thing" haha I'm so original.

The Saint Vitus album is pretty enjoyable but it doesn't really cover any new ground from anything I've heard from Black Sabbath or Candlemass. However, it still gets my vote because that Extreme Noise Terror album is not really my thing. All of the songs are just them trying to play as fast as possible and they all blend together, especially since I can't make out any of the lyrics.

You know St. Vitus predates Candlemass, right?

Also, you didn’t seriously just complain about a grindcore album being too fast and illegible? Not to echo what every fan of grindcore is thinking right now, but that’s kind of the point. Holocaust in Your Head was one, from what I can figure, major releases to expand crust punk into grindcore—released only a year after Napalm Death’s From Enslavement to Obliteration. It’s almost on par with that record, too.

For some reason I thought Candlemass was early 80s. My bad.

And this being the first grindcore I'd listened to outside of a few random songs, I guess I should have expected that to be the case. But I didn't get a lot of enjoyment out of it, regardless of whether it's typical for its genre or not. I've never been a huge fan of the more aggressive hardcore punk either so that could be a reason - hopefully I'll grow to like it more if I keep listening as I hate to wave my hands and say I dislike an entire genre. Also I've always been someone that really cares about lyrics and while this tournament has helped to change that (about, what, half of these albums have clean vocals in a language I understand?) part of me still likes to be able to distinguish individual words the vocalist is saying.

One downside of the number of albums I haven't heard in this tourney and my own lack of time to listen to them is that I've been making pretty knee-jerk reactions to a lot of them. My comments aren't meant to be a critique so much as the first impression I get from them. In a perfect world I'd be able to listen multiple times before voting (assuming I could make it through that Extreme Noise Terror album again of course Smile )
