Hey yo!

This is gonna be all sorts of things so stay tuned and tune in and bring your two cents.

Here's the list of essential, desert-island-worthy hip hop albums 'cause I happen to be in the mood for it. We'll start with the No. 1:

Jay-Z - The Blueprint
The all-time champion of self-confidence-building meditative piece of uplifting music that tells the story of a random kid from the projects growing up big enough to make hundreds of millions through his smarts, politics and sheer perseverance in complete detail. There's a lot of cash, guns and bitches involved in this, and on the other hand there's complicated love, loyalty, family and work ethics. This dude actually made a dream scenario happen: he gathered some of the dopest, freshest top-of-the-line producers to craft beautiful creative soulful beats for him to groove on while he spit the whole thing in a few days off the top of his head in a zen-like state, figuring his whole life out as he spits magnificent flows explaining it. The thing about this album is that everything works: the singles, the heavy album cuts, the more lightweight "filler" tracks, the thug songs, the love songs, the diss track and the family tribute. There's a real human being in this album and he's going to win forever.
