The nominations are in: https://www.grammy.com/grammys/news/2019-grammy-awards-complete-nominations-list

As usual, they’re a mess. Scorpion for album of the year? Lol.

That said, out of the options, who would you like to see take home these trophies?

My reactions as I'm reading:

Man, this is an absolute joke.

Is Brandi Carlile a thing? Is she that popular?

Whoever did the "dance/electronic" category at least included Jon Hopkins and SOPHIE, so that counts for something, I guess.

BRING ME THE HORIZON?!?!? Is this 2008?

Rock is dead...

Good for Toni Braxton. All these nominations.

Drake is nominated in the rap categories about 5 times, but not for the best rap album? If a "rapper" didn't even qualify for their own best album category, then how in the world did they qualify for "album of the year"?
F*ck me.

The country categories actually look the most clean out of all of these.

Haha, "New Age" is still a category. I hope Steve Roach wins.

Brandi Carlile is also considered "roots" music? Me singing in the shower ought to qualify too then.

Oh shit! Cedric Burnside had an album this year? I'll have to give that a check.

"Best Album Notes" is a category?

I can't do this anymore. My chest hurts.

I’m rooting for:

Record of the Year: I Like It
Album of the Year: Golden Hour (or Dirty Computer)
Best New Artist: Jorja Smith
Best Dance/Electronic Album: Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides
Best Alternative Album: Masseduction
Best Rap Album: Daytona
Best Country Song: Space Cowboy
Best Country Album: Golden Hour
Best Song Written for Visual Media: Mystery Of Love

Other than that I don’t really care, and as usual many of the nominations are tragicomic.

Okay, I want to know who’s idea it was to not only shut out Alison Krauss, but also Dierks Bentley and Brett Young! I want to make sure that I say this to the right person: Thank you for letting me know how far your brain train does NOT travel. One of Alison’s three submissions was for her performance of a song that was written by Johnny Cash and still…..no Grammy acknowledgement of any form for her at all whatsoever. Two more shut outs that I do NOT appreciate is LeAnn Rimes and Kenny Chesney. What was the deal with ignoring their most recent work? LeAnn’s collaboration with the legendary Stevie Nicks was submitted for the Best Country Duo/Group performance award and still nothing. Kenny Chesney submitted his newest collaboration with Mindy Smith named “Better Boat” which is a song that everyone can relate to in some way and still…nothing. (shaking my head in complete disgust)

God bless you and these awesome singers always!!!

Holly (a day one fan of LeAnn and a fan of Alison since 1994)

This is extremely bad, but the Grammys are kind of a joke, so I'm not surprised.

The Grammys have to be looked at with a grain of salt.
just another dumb ass awards show.

back in 1983 or 1984, cant exactly remember when.
pink Floyd -the wall was nominated for best album.
Christopher Cross beat out one of the greatest rock productions in history.
who could have ever got together and decided this?
the judges must be related to the pinball wizard: that is to say, deaf, dumb, blind and stupid.

Christopher Cross beat out The Wall in 1981, and that’s what he’s referring to. But that’s not even close to the worst injustice in Grammy history imo, although admittedly I haven’t heard Christopher Cross. GKMC and TPAB losing to Macklemore and Taylor Swift might take the cake.

JOS! JOS! We agree on something! 😁

I like how they increased the category size to stuff in more crap.

Watch Kendrick win his AOTY for a bad soundtrack.

Not even close to being the best song on the album...
