I enjoyed Orbital; it's a cheesy, fun low-key banger. Pocky Boy is a wonderful song with great atmosphere, so it wins my vote. _________________ Join us in the canon game / Add me on RYM
I LOVE that Distractor song. It's fresh & fun & irrevent. A classic summer pop song full of life. It's like a cross between The Cars "It's Magic", The Cure' The Top era pop, & MGMT's first LP.
Ok. Now that I've gushed about that, time to listen to track 2.
I think Pocky Boy can't touch other stuff like it. Stuff like FKA Twigs. It's a sound I hear a lot especially in the upscale clubs in Chicago's River North era as I drink over priced beer at some chic gastropub. Not bad. Doesn't really stand pout from the crowd.
Pocky Boy has a cool ambience but I was a bit bored by the end and did not detect any emotional substance to the track.
I thought the Orbital track was really good. Great production and an infectious and uplifting melody. One of the standouts of the tournament so far for me.
Yeah Pocky Boy was lovely, enrapturing, if not a complete knockout (though it may on repeat listens), while Distractor was fun throwback cheese. Might be harder to choose than I thought.
