Phantom Thread; understated but mesmerizing. A soundtrack that doesn't need the movie.

That's what I thought when I watched the movie (which is my favourite of 2017 btw)... But the order and edits made on the album don't really reflect it. It feels like they tried to showcase something completely different from the movie. The theme of House Of Woodcock, which is used repeatedly during the movie is only used once on the album for example. Even if I find it disappointing, it's still a pretty great album but it won't get my vote over my own nomination.

Oh damn, I'm loving this Leonie Pernet. Easy vote for her.
The Phantom Thread soundtrack was almost as boring as the movie itself. I feel like people just say it's good because it's PTA, DDL and JG. Anyone who thinks that movie is good is lying to themselves. _________________ 2020 chart

This one was a tough choice for me, but in the end Phantom Thread kept my interest longer. Crave starts out strong, but suffers from a weak overall experience. But I like them both.

Me? No taste? Oh no. It's you who has no taste. You who only likes it because of the critics, who only like it because the people involved made great stuff in the past. Phantom Thread is a movie that rests solely on a good reputation earned by There Will Be Blood. _________________ 2020 chart

I didn’t realize we were nominating films. I’m not even a PTA fan, bud. I nominated the album, not the film. You just keep coming back to PTA being overrated, and he neither wrote nor performed the album. Come up with an actual reason why you don’t like the album. Oh wait you can’t, because you gave it a 7/10, which is a good but not great rating and the same score I gave the There Will Be Blood film the last time I saw it.

Phantom Thread's a great film. Possibly even due more praise than it's received.
Likewise with Greenwood's score, which really should've been his Oscar.
To each their own though. _________________ Doubles & Conch
