Girl is a nice little ray of sunshine but I'd vote for The Rip over almost anything we've had so far.

Ouch - for nearly anything Portishead released in the 90s, I'd totally have to slow down against my own nomination. This Portishead track though didn't do much for me, so easy vote for me... even if I'm losing terribly!

Wow. I like 'em both but neither jumps out as clearly above the other.

I think I'll just sit this one out, at least for now. Maybe one will either grab or offend me after a few more listens.

Love both, but I prefer 90s Portishead work, while Girl is one of Beck's quirkiest and coolest singles. I'm going for that one.

If you find yourself on the fence for this one, just remember that Beck is a Scientologist.


I've always enjoyed "Girl". It's a very good choice from Beck's 2000s output.

"The Rip" is an emotional powerhouse. Beth's voice tears at my soul, and the way that the song transitions from semi-acoustic ballad to Krautrock is divine.

I'm with Roundthebend on this one. I like Portishead but not this tracks so Beck for me
