Emo is one of my least favourite genres so the AFI track was always going to be a hard sell. I like Witness so happy to give it a vote again.

I've not seen that in years; used to get played on MTV Base all the time. Great memories.

I saw Roots live a few times over the years, and the crowd - however big or small - always used to go mental for 'Witness', chanting every lyric in perfect time. It's no stretch to say that it's the greatest UK hip-hop song, and perhaps most distinctively UK hip-hop song, ever made, acutely aware of everything from acid house to Del Boy, from the Windrush generation to Adrian Mole ("the bionic zit-splitter"). The fact that nothing has sounded quite like it, before or since, is a testament to Rodney's singular vision.
