Hey so been thinking there should be some sort of BEA retrospect of the last decade but have been wondering what is the best way to actually do that? The BEAMAs the past few years have been a bust (probably with the shrunken forum participation), but perhaps if I could persuade some dormat former users to submit their picks and get lovely Loveless to get that poll thing working again 🙏 , or maybe not. Obviously we could try another song tourney (perhaps split the decade in halves so people can have a greater variety of overall picks) or a speciality tournament of a certain genre or topic, though I would probably need someone to take over most of the actual game-running duties this time around. Anyways just gouging interest, if not then, that's fine too.

I had a lot of fun during the 2018 track tourny (I think the last tournament submitted my choices too). I agree we should do a tournament for either the 2010s or at least 2019 (or both). For a 2010s tourny not sure if a track or album tourny would draw more interest. Tracks are certainly easier on people and I would imagine would have higher participation than albums, plus I think a track tourny would result in more discovery of new music whereas an album tourny might be littered with the obvious choices of the past decade. Not really a big fan of a genre or topic tournament when dissecting a decade or year

I would definitely participate in a 2010s or 2019 track tournament. I enjoyed the 2000s one but agree nominations should be more limited if we do a decade again. I wouldn't want an entirely genre based tourney but maybe we could do genre brackets where the top song of each genre competes in the final?

I'm less likely to participate in an album tournament but I would vote in matches where I already know both albums.

Yeah song tournaments usually are a bit easier to digest, so probably go down the route of a (half) decade tourney (2010-2014, then the second half). I realized I probably jumped the gun though as I would need someone(bodies?) to actually take over most of the actual game-running duties, if interested.

I think if we just did the same thing and then adjusted qty of votes - like if too many people vote we adjust the number to meet a 32 or a 64 bracket. Wasn't it like 128 or something this last time around? So from the get go you make that expectation and to put your submissions in order, so if you can only take one per, it would be ok. I don't think more than 64 people participated last time? Last time was fun/got exposed to some tracks I missed out on, but yeah it was difficult to manage.

Right now I would only have time to participate in said activity.

I'd love to participate in either 2010s or 2019 songs/albums, but I agree that the amount of songs and rounds in 2000s tourney was overwhelming. 64 with 6 rounds is more than enough. Actually a final 4 might be a single poll (so 4 rounds + 4 song finals), it would maybe make it more interesting? So 4 brackets, 64 songs and the winner of each bracket is in the final 4, which is 1 poll. Thoughts?

Yeah I think I'm going to go ahead and cut the 2010s into two halves and do a tournament on each, seperating it to a more manageable 4/16/64 structure will probably feel less overwhelming. Don't know how much interest I'll be able to scrounge up, but will try to contact the participants of the last two tournaments. Also definitely need a co-game-runner (or more) this time around.
