Hey all! This is my introductory post on BEA and, well, any music forum really.

Iโ€™m a vocal performance major, so my first love is opera-but! I have a friend who frequently posts on forums like these who has over the past year been encouraging me to listen to more and more genres. I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey thus far, and have a bunch of albums Iโ€™m on my way to listening to.

Out of the albums Iโ€™ve recently listened to, my favorite has to be OK Computer. I was captivated the entire time, and frequently re-listen to its top half especially. Somewhat disturbingly, when I read the lyrics to Fitter Happier to my dad, he said it sounded like an ideal way to live, but thatโ€™s tangential. A close second is In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, which I frequently listen to due to its short length. I also loved Trout Mask Replica, despite finding it horrendous and insufferable originally. Another favorite and probably coming in third is Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror). The remake is cleaner sound-wise but I cannot stand the changes he made to the lyrics and lengths of Nervous Young Inhumans and Famous Prophets (Minds) respectively.

I digress.

Iโ€™m not super picky about genres, but I seem to be into indie, lo-fi, and alt-rock recently. My favorite artists out of what Iโ€™ve already listened to are Queen (grew up on them), The Smiths, Car Seat Headrest, and Neutral Milk Hotel.

Here are some albums I already got recommended to listen to that Iโ€™ll be making a music diary thread about.

Arcade Fire - Funeral
Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica
Pixies - Doolittle
Titus Andronicus - The Monitor
Broken Social Science - You Forgot It in People
The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
Sparklehorse - Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot
Weatherday - Come In
Muse - Origin of Symmetry
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
baystateoftheart
Neil Young as a butternut squash

All great records - enjoy! I still need to try Sparklehorse myself.

Hello to all the Members,

I've been a Member for close to 5 years now but haven't introduced myself or posted much until recently. I've got more time on my hands since I've been recently retired & of course doing my social distancing as I'm sure all of you have been doing.

Along with having more leisure time I've been working on my Charts which is always a work in progress. I primarily add albums from bands/albums that I enjoy listening to as opposed to websites that rate albums based on sales/reviewer's personal opinion etc.

My favorite Genres of music would be Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues & Hard Rock however I enjoy listening to Soft Rock bands most noteworthy from the 70's because they bring back fond memories growing up as a tween/teen. I also enjoy psychedelic music from the 60's. My least favorite Genre of music would be jazz however I like a couple of jazz guitarists. I've been to quite a few concerts in my day & have kept almost all of my stubs; wow how ticket prices have soared.

I like reading what Members are listening to & have searched some of the Artists & listened to a few. It's good to keep an open mind when it comes to music & there are many many enjoyable surprises out there.

Anyway; I hope some of you will peruse some of my Charts that I've created & continue working on. I'm sure that some of you have similar tastes in music.

Keep safe & well everyone & it's great to be part of this forum.

Cheers from the shores of Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada.
