I already played this into this into the ground quite a few years ago, but so many of the aesthetic elements people never talk about (like how wonderfully squeamish the drum machine and synthesized guitar and strings sound against the seeming “purity” of the piano) are the things that I love best about this. This was the real reason I named my documentary-album project after this album; it’s as much about a lo-fi pit of despair as it’s about being honest with your traumas.
