I loved Lateralus, was kinda meh about Ænima. I prefer the more clean & polished sound and the more complex arrangements of Lateralus over the more dirty and aggressive sound of Ænima. Based on that, which Tool album should I check out next? 🤔

If you prefer a more clean & polished sound that you should definitely check out FI next.

While I love the enthusiam you have for exploring metal music, it might be easier for you to keep a diary in the Music Diaries section. Some people here might be interested in reading your whole progress throughout one thread, and it could make things easier when dropping recommendations.

If you started with the two most famous Tool albums and loved Lateralus, then you can pretty much do whatever you want with Tool. Then you can move on to other bands who have similarities to Tool or just other prog metal bands.

Essentials are Opeth, Fates Warning, Gojira, Dream Theater, Mastodon and Devin Townsend. If you develop in interest in black metal, check out Enslaved. Their one of the most consistently good metal bands.

All you need to do is to start a "New Topic" in music diaries. It's right in between the one that you originally posted in (New Members) and this one (Music). No worries

The"music diaries" section is a subforum right under the "music" subforum. All you have to do is go there and start a thread.
