Now this record breaks me. Beautiful masterpiece, one of my favorites of all time, wanna the best of the 90s. This is proto-Gorillaz, and considering I do not love that many as much as them.... yea 10/10!

Yeah, Americans often have this opinion.

And which opinion is the correct one here?

Anyway, still haven't digested this one properly. I can only say that Tender is the best song Damon ever wrote.

I don't have an opinion; I've just noticed that Americans tend to prefer this (or sometimes the self-titled, or even Think Tank), whilst Brits go for Parklife or Modern Life Is Rubbish (or even The Great Escape).

Speaking as an American, Modern Life is Rubbish was long my favorite Blur album but I think I'd go for Parklife these days. Definitely agree though that a lot of the critical consensus I read has their later period albums ranking as good or even better, but I don't see it. Think Tank in particular was a bore for me. Maybe it's because I haven't listened to as much Britpop as I have American alternative rock and their early albums sound fresher to my ears than their later ones do.

13 is my favorite of the second half of their career though, and "Tender" and "Coffee & TV" are my two favorite Blur songs. The rest of the album is interesting and eclectic but I think it's a bit too long and not all of the tracks hit; personally I could do without most of the trip-hop influenced ones. "No Distance Left to Run" is another highlight.
