Doesn't matter to me what style of music it is just as long as it speaks to you in some way. My list will follow soon as it's now 4:15 in the AM and i have to work in a few hours. Not the best drums I've ever heard, but "Wait Until Tomorrow" by John Mayer Trio is difficult to play. It's a cover of a Hendrix song.

I constantly return to Jimmy Chamberlain from the Smashing Pumpkins for a panoramic sense of rock drumming. Endlessly muscular when he needs to be, avoids cliches at all possible costs, and with such a innate sense of dynamics and melody - that in the case of "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" - his drumming becomes encyclopedic in scope- art metal, underwater ballads, bizzare drone pop, country, top 40 rock, and corny MIDI romps all seem one in the same. One of my favorite albums ever.
