I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have bought this album if they hadn't changed the cover art for the US version.

I mean, this is waaay better, isn't it? And then they kept using photos of the same kid on subsequent album covers... what was the deal with that?
That said, I was into these guys quite early on, and this remains my favorite U2 record by quite a wide margin. Every subsequent release was increasingly disappointing, and I stopped buying their stuff altogether after The Joshua Tree. Obviously my opinions run counter to that of the vast majority of people in this regard, but I'd still like to think I was somewhat vindicated in the end.

Mmm... Whatever the album cover situation is, I think Boy is pretty terrific. Solid debut.

A pretty solid debut, quite a bit more energetic than I remember.
I Will Follow is the clear stand, while I also have a soft spot for Out Of Control.

Back when I was a big U2 fan in my teens, this album wasn't in my rotation at all. These days I'm not listening to U2 often, but Boy is one of the rare albums I play front to back. Really solid post punky debut. I also prefer the og cover, but I can see the appeal of both.
