The Golden Dregs track reminded me a lot of the Magnetic Fields in all aspects of the song but I liked it. And Shiver Lung sounded like its title: a bit too experimental and going nowhere for me.
You think you know a decade, then this tournament comes out of nowhere and WHAM all kinds of stuff I've never heard of. Enjoyed both of these. Two very good tracks in their respective spectrums.
Think the only edge I might give Golden Dregs is that Shiver Lung feels like it overstays its due by 2-3 minutes. Ultimate Fighting Champion has great playlistability. Have to be in a super specific mood to vibe to Shiver Lung.
I'll give it a sec before voting. I'm liking both.
Yeah, Ultimate Fighting Champion was very Magnetic Fields and very easy on the ear. Got my vote. Shiver Lung was just too challenging and esoteric for me.

Yes that Golden Dregs can bring thoughts over to Magnetic Fields musically, but at least Stephen Merritt didn't sing like he was bored out of his mind, and he also sang the opposite of boring ideas.
Silver Lung was an interesting piece of sound art, albeit not something I will return to but still, I go with that. _________________ My Top 100 :

Streams, you nominate some totally bizarre, out-there stuff that I certainly wouldn't have listened to otherwise. Kudos to you, this is very cool! More so than any other new track in the tournament so far, this one makes me want to seek out more by the artist. Ash Fure's Something to Hunt is now on my agenda, so thanks for that.
I'm not sure that I get the Magnetic Fields vibes from Golden Dregs that others are getting, but I will say I enjoyed that track. When it ended, I thought "oh that was a nice short little indie piece" and then looked and saw it was 4 minutes (when I thought it was like... <2). Something must be good about a song if I totally lose any semblance of time while listening .

Ash Fure's approach is particularly interesting in her approach to material, installation, and the ethics of group realization/performance but all context aside, "Shiver Lung" is a delightfully visceral piece in some arcane way.
Ultimate Fighting Champion is nice and fun, but hardly made an impression, I could live with or without it. Shiver Lung, on the other hand, is a fabulous piece of art and easily gets my vote. _________________ Bob Dylan Charles Mingus
