I tend to think of Blondie as a "singles band," and Parallel Lines definitely contributes to that line of thinking, but moreso than their other studio albums, this one has probably the strongest set of non-single tracks. The album starts and ends fairly strong, but songs like "Fade Away and Radiate" never really did it for me. That said, with this fresh listen, I found songs like "11:59" growing on me, so maybe if I kept it on rotation my opinion would strengthen. Also, when it does come to the singles, you have sheer brilliance. "One Way or Another", "Heart of Glass", and my personal favorite, "Hanging on the Telephone" are all-time great songs. Definitely worth a couple of listens before you go back to "Best of Blondie" as your go-to Blondie album ๐
Just terrific.
For me all the tracks are strong.
It starts strong and never lets up to the end
Debbie Harry is just incredible on this.
Her voice and her style and her attitude.
The rest of the band are excellent too.
Great music. Great lyrics. Great vocals.
What more do you want in an album?
A couple of hundred-dollar bills slipped into the sleeve would be nice...
I actually didn't start liking Blondie until fairly recently. Not sure why... ๐ค And by the way, the Taleen Kali album really does sound a lot like them in case anybody is interested in modern-day similar artists.
