Vampire Weekend have come a long way from Graceland meets art school indie. Still not really for me but it's cool to see their artistic progression over the years.
No contest though, Meridian bros are making some of the most straight up Fun music out there right now, can almost make me forget it's like 45 degrees out here rn. Also love that music video _________________ A Variety of Artists
Wild that Meridian Brothers are bigger than ever. Glad they're getting a spotlight.
I'm having a weird relationship with the last Vampire Weekend album. I keep forgetting about it, but whenever I listen to it I'm reminded that it's really solid stuff. Great example on how a band should mature. Yet... I keep forgetting about it. Not sure why. Something about it isn't quite sticking in my brain. Had some good walks listening to it this summer though.
As much as I implore people to listen to a record or two by Meridian Brothers, I'm going with Gen X Cops here. I think it's the better track.
While I'm not a huge Meridian Brothers fan, their stuff is always fun. I saw them live almost 2 years ago and it was a complete blast, a must see live show. En El Caribe estoy triste gets the vote based on that, and based on the fact that I still don't seem to care about Vampire Weekend. Just not my thing. _________________ Overall chart Fake overall chart
Not gonna lie, this was a factor in my decision. The video kind of reminds me of Masaaki Yuasa, which means it is my favorite music video of the decade so far.
But yeah I have really been getting into the Meridian Brothers stuff since their previous album. This one was the sound of my summer, really helped give the time the specific type of fun that it needed. _________________ endaural hour podcast
First time hearing a Meridian Brothers song and I am sold, great track. Just added three of their albums to my to-do list. Love the art style and colors in the video, although some of the imagery was unappealing and the lights sort of gave me a headache.
Anyway, I'm obviously voting for my nomination nevertheless. This track is the best example of how Vampire Weekend's newly noisy sound has revitalized their music and given it more bite. The great songwriting has always been there, but a fresh sonic palette was needed after Father Of The Bride. _________________ Join us in the canon game / Add me on RYM
Was never a Vampire Weekend hater, but never really the one to go out of my way to listen them. This song is pretty solid, but I prefer the Meridian Brothers- whom I think I was introduced to the last time we did one of these?
