Hey Johnnyo! Love the effort! I'll certainly join in! One of my faves from that year, BUT will have to re-listen first before really having anything to say.

Anything to get more discussion going around all aspects of music has to be a good thing. My gut feeling, and it might just be nostalgia kicking in, is that there was more discussion when I first joined (14 years ago, crikey).

I think that it's a little scattergun to be honest. There are some really nice bluesy tracks and also some psychedelic tinges to others, sometimes both in the same track.
You have to put albums like this into context though. If this were an album released in 2025, I wouldn't buy it and would consider it rather mundane but this was at the start of a whole new genre of music, so viewing it in that context, it's a decent album.
I think that contemporaries like, the Doors (you can hear so much Doors here or is it that you can hear Country Joe in the Doors?) Love, Jefferson Airplane. All of those bands seem more mature than Country Joe.

I wouldn't put it on the same level as The Doors or Love either, but it's just the next rung down. It would be one of my favorite releases if it was released this year for sure. BUT, I've had this in my collection now for decades. lol. So I'm quite biased. Would easily make my TOP FIVE psychedelic albums of 1967😎 >

I’ve only just joined that group so this is my first album. Will need to see if it’s a worthwhile thing to pursue but from my contact with the group so far, through Padlet, they seem like a decent and knowledgeable bunch so looking forward to my first meet up.
