Great Bands from Texas

Anybody know of any? I think the problem is that there are just a lot of bands out there from Texas that I don't know are from Texas.
Aren't the Butthole Surfers from Texas?
I like grouping bands (solo artists, too!) like this because it's interesting to see what kind of a mix you can get. For instance, Nine Inch Nails, Devo, and Guided by Voices are all from Ohio!
So I thought I'd see what bands or acts there are out there that people know from Texas that just really rock the house.
Also, if anybody knows of any shining states/cities that might surprise people, feel free to give the low-down!

Leadbelly
Willie Nelson
Kenny Rogers
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Spoon
T-Bone Burnett
Stevie Ray Vaughan
ZZ Top
Vanilla Ice
Janis Joplin
Ornette Coleman
Okkervil River
Scarface

And I'm sure a few more.

Not usually a fan of Country music, but I never knew Ornette Coleman and Janis were from Tejas! Wonderful!

Seriously, though, considering that it provides about 50% of America's new jobs, it's sorta surprising that Texas has a crappy music scene. But it's true.

Oh well. At least it has Janis Joplin and Britt Daniels.
