- Post subject: November site update 2 (Site revamp)
|
We're now at the time of year where end of year lists are beginning to appear, so we can expect a busy few weeks in the lead-up to the new year once more charts are published (each year, BEA amalgamates numerous charts from external sources into its aggregate list).
In this second site update in November, images across the site have been replaced with more modern versions, and charts & graphs across the site have also been updated as part of the site modernisation programme. Over the last few updates (since the siteโs 20th anniversary), a large number of changes have now been implemented (if I've not been so active on the forums or data moderation lately, its because I've spent many hours in the background on this project, so a big thanks to others for keeping other aspects of the site moving).
A great deal of progress has been made, but thereโs still plenty to do. Thanks to everyone who visits the site regularly for sticking with BEA through this period of transition, and hopefully itโll be worthwhile (the site is already looking better for it). There will be one more site update before Christmas to add a few more changes (& bed the latest set of changes in), and then 2026 will continue at the current pace (currently working full-time on BEA, so dependent on not going financially broke before things are finished).
Also in this update:
- Added inline search to The Charts page (you can search as well still from the site header etc).
- Added overall/year/decade rank info to rankings table on album pages
- Add ability to show full list of reactions on the forums where not all reactions are displayed
- Improved behaviour of chart compositions so they render better as a group across different devices
- Added inline search to the user charts page to allow users to find custom charts after pagination was added (- added to the site a couple of weeks back).
- Added ability to close/hide site news on home page (until next announcement) (- also added to the site a couple of weeks back)
- Updated swipe gesture support on touch-screen devices
- Fixed user profile pages showing stale user points totals
- Fix list of reactions overflowing browser width on mobile
- Loads more smaller changes
Exciting times ahead. Enjoy the site and more soon.

I'm having the same issue. I'm sure that it's just a glitch.

On a more positive note.
The site does feel much easier to navigate and I like the new look. If the above issue can be resolved it's a 10 / 10 on the updates

Apologies, just working on a patch to fix this (current ratings still exist in background)...

Just deployed a small fix for the ratings issue (apologies for not spotting this during my own testing)

When adding new tracks to an album, was able to type in the number of tracks, then shift-back arrow to the add button and press enter to add the new track fields. Now have to use the mouse to click that button: enter doesn't work on the add button anymore. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

Site is looking great and all of your work is truly appreciated!
Iโll echo the previous comment about clicking an exact star rating (giving an album a 75 instead of a 70) being a little touchy. Otherwise, no issues here! ๐ _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

When moderating an album...
when the cursor is placed on the album art, a large white empty white box appears. It stays as long as the cursor is on the album art. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold
