I discovered Polygonia just a few days ago while listening to her latest EP (Ceaseless Motion), and this girl makes good techno. But I simply prefer Rosalia, so I went with my nomination.
This Rosalia track is incredible and it actually is one of her best imo. It's gonna win and I'm not mad.
The way Polygonia mixes leftfield techno tropes with halftime/minimal dnb rhythms and adds a fair dose of sound design experiments... Just incredible. While this is probably my fave track from her, a better nom would've been Whirlwind of Hearts. Didn't think about the nominations hard enough, admittedly.
Definitely catch her live, in the last 6 months I've heard her live set and dj set and both were immaculate. Skee Mask had an excellent set after her, but everybody I went with agreed that she was the highlight of the night. And that's saying something.
Techno isn't exactly my cup of tea, so Polygonia was an interesting change of pace for me - no chance I would have listened to this song outside this tournament.
That being said, Rosalia gets my vote and admittedly it's not that close. Can't say it's made my absolute favourites yet, but Lux is a truly special album and I'm curious to see how she follows it up. _________________ Bob Dylan Charles Mingus
