"John Lennon’s most accessible and successful album. Has some wonderful songs on it and it’s well produced. It’s not perfect. The title track is problematic coming from a millionaire but it’s sentiments are honourable and I think genuine. We could have done without the nasty and vitriolic How do you sleep. Despite the superb slide guitar from George Harrison ! Overall a top class album that I’d recommend."

"Such an important album for so many reasons
Firstly its by John Lennon , enough said
Secondly it contains "Imagine" one of the most significant songs in recorded history
And thirdly it's only 10 tracks long but there is so much packed into these 10 gems. There is the heavy weight icons in "Imagine" and "Jealous Guy" , the Lennon soul barring tracks in "Crippled Inside" , "It's So Hard" and "How?" , the Lennon love letters to Yoko in "Oh My Love" and "Oh Yoko!" , strong political commentary in "I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier" and "Gimme Some Truth" and of course the unforgettably blistering attack on McCartney on "How Do You Sleep?" . Every word every note has meaning
The 'Imagine' rabbit hole is deep and dark , how ever here's my recommendation:
(1) Listen to the standard album and become familiar
(2) Check out 'Imagine (The Ultimate Collection)' a 61 track 4.5 hour behemoth covering demos and unused tracks from the Imagine sessions
(3) Watch the documentary "Above Us Only Sky" about these sessions
(4) Watch the documentary "Gimme Some Truth" which further expands on the making of Imagine
(5) And if your feeling really motivated check out the 1971 Lennon/Yoko produced "Imagine" which is more like a home movie than actual movie and is very weird ( wanna see Lennon eating Chess Pieces ? You got it here )
