i'm about over it. listening to the new maccabees ape coldplay isn't that exciting. They're good musicians 'n' all, the songs on "given to the wild" themselves are fine, the vocals are ok ... but the distilled reference point just bugs me.

i'm as guilty as the next person as i have CDs from elbow, muse, coldplay, keane, magic numbers, etc. lining my downstairs storage closet. But i think i've had about enough ... (From the looks of the 2012 and all-time rankings, i'm in the minority.)

How about you?

Nicky Wire once said that the Manic Street Preachers were like Nixon to Radiohead's Kennedy. I'm not sure entirely what he was getting at with it (maybe he thinks Manic Street Preachers are 'underrated'?) but I suppose if Radiohead is the more popular one they will have more people trying to copy them. I have also noticed the trend you talk about, which I think is best described as music where all the notes are spaced out and not together like why does it feel like a cave or something, you know?

You know what? Try Manic Street Preachers 'Postcards From A Young Man'. Not 'The Holy Bible' or 'Closing Down Sale'. Go with the latest album by them, right off the diving board. That has no veins of 'Radiohead' or 'Coldplay' and although from an established act, it is good. If you have heard it already, would like to hear what you think.

@40footwolf - Hey, you can listen to Postcards From A Young Man too Surprised Both of you can!

*mind explodes*

I have no clue what this means, but I can't stop laughing when I read it Laughing Is it supposed to be humourous?
